First big news out of Cannes

Man my luck with this just keeps coming! De Niro has officially been announced as the head of the jury at Cannes this year. Hopefully I will be running into him... or at least serving him coffee. It would be so amazing if he ended up being one of the speakers I get to see this year at the pavilion. I still can't believe how lucky I am to be going on this trip. Now all I have to do is learn how to schmooze and I am all set... That or I will start having to use sex to climb the corporate ladder... maybe not.

And on the first day...

Residents of Beebe woke up New Years day to find hundreds of dead blackbirds littering the streets of their town. Last year there were floods and this year dead black birds. Authorizes think it's high altitude weather conditions (have I been watching too much X-Files or does that just reek of cover up?) io9 thinks it's Romulan War birds. Personally I'm going to stick with the classics; all out apocalypse.

Pics from last night

So excuse the mobile phone quality of these photos! I had to work with what I had! SICK game last night, But I suppose any game is amazing when you up against the glass. Montreal vs. Flordia, in a winner takes all clash of the titans! Actually it was pre season but WHO CARES! There's something about banging on the glass and yelling that makes for such a much more tactile and invigorating hockey experience! That and I had a bottle of wine in me and any one who knows me know how belligerent and loud I get when drunk at sporting events.






A shout out to my wonderful date SLE who not only got us the most amazing seats in the house (girlfriend has a sweet job with sweet perks) but also to the two older guys sitting beside us, and the cute 10 year old behind us, who ate all of my candy and kept me updated on who all of the rookies were and how they were doing!


We worked it girl style, Habs jersey's (mine borrowed from my BF) tight pants and high heeled boots, as well as dinner and a BYOW before had! The only other was to roll is a 5 à 7 before, but alas we didn't have enough time.

Nothing says Montreal like Hockey! Can't wait for the regular season to start what with the play off last year and getting to watch the game up close this year, I feel like I'm really starting to be a big fan!

Granted they did get a second season and they will get a chance to burn off the last of the 13 episodes, I still don't think that FOX gave them enough of a chance.

I just don't think that big networks and corporations in general realize how shitty they are. This whole capitalist agenda of theirs consistently ruins my life. WHATS WRONG WITH JUST MAKING GOOD TELEVISION. Why must they constantly prevent those with talent and vision from sharing their awesomeness with the world.

Why are shows with heart, a conscious, and a message feared? Why are innovations in character development and storyline seen as too confusing? Viewers are smart! And if your products were more readily available for non live viewing, people would be more willing to invest in complicated storyline. Also DVR, iTunes and Online view should count towards official viewership, lets be honest, that is how we watch television now, get with it.

My First Coffe Shop Post

Feeling extremely cool and new age-y right now, posting from a coffee shop. I am such a cliche. LOVES IT! Feeling pretty good, the semester is winding down and instead of my usual end-of-semester-panic I find myself surprisingly able to keep up. Sure I still have a paper (mostly done), a final (which I actually didn't even know about), a take home and a film to finish, but it the greater scheme of things it all seems extremely do-able. Or maybe I'm crazy... that's defintely a viable option. I often question whether my sanity falls within legal requirments, especially for some one who drives a car and has access to many questionable web content... I'm sure I'm fine!

On a lighter note, finished recoring foley the other day and then voice overs this saturday. Both went extremly well. My talented sound designer has already placed most of the foely and gotten started on the VO's. I'm also meeting my music man tomorrow in order to give him the latest edit so that he can start placing the already composed music into the film.
Things are comin' up me!
