First big news out of Cannes

Man my luck with this just keeps coming! De Niro has officially been announced as the head of the jury at Cannes this year. Hopefully I will be running into him... or at least serving him coffee. It would be so amazing if he ended up being one of the speakers I get to see this year at the pavilion. I still can't believe how lucky I am to be going on this trip. Now all I have to do is learn how to schmooze and I am all set... That or I will start having to use sex to climb the corporate ladder... maybe not.

Overdue Photopost

Took these puppys in August and just plum forgot to post them. I was location scouting for Project Cross Match and I had to stop for gas. I've always loved the water tower, and the "Bar Ormstown/Bar Harem/Club O-Town" is the local dive/strip club, that everyone is scared to go into for far of the HIV and saggy strippers. It's basically used to launder money... or so everyone assumes. As far as I know it doesn't do any actual business. The barn is my uncles, and is very old and sorta falling apart.
As much as I some times try to stay away I do find inspiration in my home town. Now all I need to do is buy myself and actual camera s that I wont have to steal my moms all the time.

Pics from last night

So excuse the mobile phone quality of these photos! I had to work with what I had! SICK game last night, But I suppose any game is amazing when you up against the glass. Montreal vs. Flordia, in a winner takes all clash of the titans! Actually it was pre season but WHO CARES! There's something about banging on the glass and yelling that makes for such a much more tactile and invigorating hockey experience! That and I had a bottle of wine in me and any one who knows me know how belligerent and loud I get when drunk at sporting events.

A shout out to my wonderful date SLE who not only got us the most amazing seats in the house (girlfriend has a sweet job with sweet perks) but also to the two older guys sitting beside us, and the cute 10 year old behind us, who ate all of my candy and kept me updated on who all of the rookies were and how they were doing!

We worked it girl style, Habs jersey's (mine borrowed from my BF) tight pants and high heeled boots, as well as dinner and a BYOW before had! The only other was to roll is a 5 à 7 before, but alas we didn't have enough time.

Nothing says Montreal like Hockey! Can't wait for the regular season to start what with the play off last year and getting to watch the game up close this year, I feel like I'm really starting to be a big fan!

Hamilton Family On-Terrible Road Trip Day 2

Ladies and Gentlemen Welcome to day 2.

First stop on our road trip 36 Whispering Pine Trial, Aurora. Home of Doug and Leeann and their beloved cat Sadie. About an hour outside of downtown TO.

Yesterday was a bit of a rough one. What was supposed to be a 5 hour drive yesterday took us a better part of 7 hours. Who ever heard of traffic on the 401? It's a 12 lane highway for the better part of the province, you'd think they would have figured out a way to avoid congestion. Thank God Liv didn't come or the ride would have been twice as uncomfortable We ended up on the smaller highway, highway 2 for about 45 minutes, in en effort to get gas, pee and avoid the traffic. This actually ended up being the highlight of our trip, because we passed through Cobourg and Port Perry, which are two of the cutest little waterside towns I have ever seen. Definitely need to go back.

Luckily when we finally did get here Doug and Leeann did not disappoint. Wine and fillet mignon until we couldn't breathe, nice conversation and a comfortable bed to sleep in.

Today's itinerary includes some shopping at the mall in Aurora, then we head down to Kincardine to visit Garry's oldest brother Jim and his wife Nancy. We spend two days there before moving on again. Hopefully we will find some cool stuff to do along the way if not it's only a 2 hour drive so it should be fine!

Notable quotes include
"If I eat this whole block of cheese the wont even know they had it, right?"
"Well the queen is getting old, maybe you could take her job!"

Adventure Weekend/Sunday

Another successful adventure Sunday this weekend with Tara and Gaël! Gaël had the brilliant idea of hitting up the beach and therefore we ventured out to park Jean Drapeau, spiked punch, sunscreen and chips in hand. Gaël built sandcastles, I read and Tara tanned (using the most bizarre tanning lotion I have ever seen, basically it induces an allergic reaction and apparently that's supposed to help you tan...)

The castle was mostly successful as was the tanning. The highlight of the day came when a couple of FULLY dressed tourists tried to go for a swim on the one part of the beach your not supposed to use and proceeded to basically have sex in the water. They were then kick out of the water by a lifeguard with washboard abs, so they headed to the picnic tables to strip off theirs clothes and finish there.

This weekend also marked the beginning of the Jazz Festival here in MTL. So Grace Tara and I headed out to the Festivities to watch opening act Brian Setzer and his orchestra light up the night. I was unfortunately too late to catch hometown favorites the Hellbound Hepcats play but I told that both of their shows were a riot. As expected the place was PACKED but we did manage to get within 100 feet of the stage and were able to better see the screens and tell that there were in fact people on stage. later that night Duke and Tristan met us for beer and we spent the rest of the night watching the show from there n their handy dandy TV screen.

So all in all it was a fun and cheap weekend! Which is good cause this week is moving week and it promises to be hell!

New Years Resolution

Kinda late right?
My resolution this year was to A) loose weight 2) to enjoy Montreal this summer, And enjoy it I have!Last night was my I popped my Fringe fest cherry with The New New Underground's show I Like Cowboys. I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about, only wanting to go to at least on Fringe show ( it was that or Francofolies, and I love Couer de Pirate but it was PISSING rain outside so I said FRAK IT!) and apparently I was a spoiled. They had a huge freakin' set, with a band! Who by the way rocked! It rekindled my urge to learn how to play the banjo. The show was also an hour and a half long, which I'm told is unusual for a Fringe show and I can understand why, it was a bit long. The beginning premise and introduction of characters were great, Pearl, being by far the most hilarious character, but as the play went on and her scenes dwindled so did my interest. This may be my fault, seeing as I went to a 10:30 showing, but I feel like the play had alot of great things going for it and didn't take advantage of many of them. All in all though i thoroughly enjoyed the show, it was nice to hang with friends.

So along with Nuit blanche, free Museum day, tam tam's (see the photo of Jimmy) and many other adventures, I think i'm doing pretty well in my attempt to enjoy MTL in the summer. This sunday, drinks on the Mclausan breweries terrase!
