And the nominees are in!

They really hit the nail on the head with this year worst picture nominees!

Vampires Suck
Eclipse
Sex & the City 2
The Last Airbender
The Bounty Hunter

While I have no seen Vampires Suck or Bounty Hunter, I am assured they both suck(although I feel like in the case of Vampires Suck, it was more like done on purpose) I can definitely vouch for the crappiness of the other films.

Sex in the City 2 was the most Americentric crap I have seen in ages. It's trite, it's insensitive, it's offensive and IT'S NOT FUNNY. I'm not even a fan of the franchise and I really enjoyed the first movie. The second seems to be like the worst episode they ever made with the bigger budget and less graphic sex scenes.

The Last Airbender is so bad there are only 3 things that happen. Some one has a big explanatory speech, some one says "We have to go ___" and that is followed by a big fight scene. They then do the same thing over and over again until the film ends.
The problem with this film is they thought they were so cool, no one would notice how bad the story was. Well guess what, when you treat audiences like they are stupid they figure it out and get pissed! Also the cast should have been a mix of many races (as they are in the comics) instead of the white guys = good guys, non white guys = bad guys, like in this film. Critics accusing this film of "whitewashing" are not wrong. I wonder what Shyamalan was thinking, letting this casting go through. And for someone who usually has a nack for complex scripts this one seems to have been written by a monkey who signed Shyamalans name.

As for Eclipse lets just say the only way I was able to sit through this movie was by playing a drinking game against Taylor Lautners abs (ie everything he was shirtless I would drink). Needless to say I lost horribly and was so drunk I had to be helped out of the theater. My condolences got to the people who are working on the film who actually have talent (ie Melissa Rosenberg, screenwriter), I hope the paycheck was worth it.
I also love that they have a category solely for sequels, prequels and remakes as well as a new category for worse use of 3D.

Any other films you think should have been nominated? Think any of this actors will pull Sandra's or Halle's and actually show up to accept their awards?

New Being Human Trailer

Wicked trailers like this just make me resent remakes even more. Why are they remaking this show in the Us when the original is still on the air. Apparently people I know who have auditioned for the show seem to indicate that everything will be pretty similar. *Sigh* My new life goal is to create some original content.

Mind you I still haven't finished series 2... I should get on that

Also can we talk about Cat Stevens being the sound track for this!?!? Random

Hectic Week

Last night officially wrapped up one of the more nutso weeks in my recent history. Work + Volunteering @ the Cinemania Film festival and trying to have a social life (Mumford and Sons concert + Friends + being interviewed for the Concordian) had left me tired and with and extremely sore back (which is actually getting me worried because it wont go away) so today is a chill day

Cinemania Montreal

Cinemania was awesome! Alot of early mornings (followed by late nights at the resto and then more early mornings) were kind of a killer, but they allowed me to really connect with the event organizers who were all super awesome ladies. I also allowed me to see a bunch of free films ( La Reine des Pommes (2/5), Bazar (3/5) Tout ce qui Brille (3/5) Sommeil Blanc (2/5), L'Enfance du Mal (3/5), Dumas (3/5), Illegal (4/5) and Potiche (4/5)) all in french with English subtitles. Having never volunteered at a film festival before I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my experience. I'm told not all festivals are as well presented and I totally believe it. i am therefore excited to volunteer again and total wary of it at the same time.

Next on the docket was the Mumford concert. As usual they were amazingly breath taking.
Super big props as well to their opening acts this time around, King Charles and Cadillac Sky.

Caddilac was alot of fun but I cant seem to find them online, and King Charles was actually kind of amazing

He played the entire set by himself with just a guitar, except for the opening song which he did accapella and it actually stopped my heart and made me do a double take while in line for coat check.

But unfortunate by the time Mumford came on the same problem arose as last time: the crowd SUCKED! I don't know what is wrong with people these days but they lack any kind of concert etiquette. Drunks yelling, girls squealing, people interrupting the band. it was so frakin' annoying.

Also the show lasted 3 and a half hours! Which was awesome yet very exhausting.

So good week, glad it's over, back to applying for jobs.

Thank you baby Jesus!

Nothing but good news coming out of Warner Bros concerning HP7. Plans for a 3D conversion have been scrapped due to time constraints. I am very happy with this news. 2D to 3D conversions are hideous. It only sucks because that's why they pushed it back in the first place. originally it was supposed to premier this past summer but was postponed to make the conversion. The article reference Clash of the Titans as an example of bad 3D conversion and I agree. If your not gonna shot it in 3D don't bother converting it. It just wastes time and looks like balls.

"It's not a dick, it's a duck!"

Ladies and Gentlemen, my vote for the best worst movie ever

The Long Kiss Goodnight

Starring Gena Davis and Samuel Jackson, LKG tell the story of Samantha Cain (Davis) a housewife with amnesia who tries to find out who she used to be.
*Spoiler Alert*
Long story short she turns out to be a government trained assassin who has now become the target of her former employers and must use all of her training as well as the help of Mitch Henessy (Jackson) to survive... you know, that old yarn.

Now just to put it outthere, this movie is pretty bad... who bad you ask? So bad that at one point Davis steal a pair of figure skates, skates down a river to catch up with a car full of bad guys, does a double axle and shoots them all... no seriously.

That being said this movie features such gems as

"Die screaming motherfucker"

"The last time I got blown, candy bars cost a nickel"

"I never did one thing right in my life, you know that? Not one. That takes skill."

"Mitch: Oh, shit! Ah, that hurt like shit!
Samantha: I know. That's why I distracted you first. Same principle as deflowering virgins.
Mitch: Huh? What? Virgin - ? What?
Samantha: Read it in this Harold Robbins book. Guy bites her on the ear. Distracts from the pain. Ever try that?
Mitch: No, no, I sock 'em in the jaw and yell, "Pop goes the weasel.""

"Alley Agent: Good evening, pretty lady. How 'bout some company?
Charlie: No thanks. I'm saving myself 'til I get raped."

And of course

All in all a must see for any bad movie night.

We Are Coming... Back

TV retrospective: Torchwoods series 3, 5 part miniseries

Still one of the greatest miniseries of all time. I'm still astounded by the sheer amazingness and magnitude of Torchwood's "Children of Earth" Miniseries.

After the end of the second series I swore I would never watch it again, when I say major character death, I mean MAJOR!. It's like Davis wanted to end the show. Then children of earth came alone, and it almost felt like the end, like it would wrap things up nicely. And what do we get, a 5 part mini series that rivals Battlestars action and gravitas, and suddenly I'm more into Torchwood then I have ever been and am on the edge of my seat. And then 5 seconds later I'm hating Davis again and marvelling at the balls this guys has to be killing off his characters in the manner that he does.

For a series/ miniseries that at first started out as a budget saving effort and looked like the end, Davis really made the most out of the shortend season and made into the biggest most intense movie I have ever seen.

The problem with COE is that it leaves Torchwood in a sort of limbo story wise, and with the American version coming up (or not) I am anxious to see how it turns out.

This just shit the bed

Only Queens of Noise is mildly okay, but thats all it is ... mild, weak, uninspired.
I can't believe how seriously they've dropped the ball with this one, the film is going to have to be out of this world to save the train wreck that are these songs. And even that is unlikely, how can you have a movie about a band without good music.

Mischa Barton Syndrome

It's official, I'm coining it.
Successfully TV actors who leave shows at the wrong time to be nothings
David Caruso - NY PD Blue
Misha Barton - The OC

And of course Denise Crosby on Star Trek Next Generation
She quit the show after the first season cause she thought she was too good for it. Then when she realized that she had no career she got the writers to write her back on to the show (Did I mention they had killed her off!) to create THE FREAKIN LARGEST RETCON SINCE SEASON 5 OF BUFFY !! (if you don't know what I'm talking about ask some one you know, I don't even wanna talk about it). The result is multiple time lines, arcs and freaky Romulan human babies that look exactly their mother who died, came back in an alt time line, the proceed to get pulled through a time vortex only to be kidnapped by romulans have a romulan baby, who grows up just in time so she can reappear on the show playing her own daughter who looks exactly like her with a bad Romulan haircut!

SHE'S A TERRIBLE ACTRESS!
SHE'S A TERRIBLE CHARACTER!

Why do they keep bringing her back? I sincerely hope Ronald D Moore (head writer) hates himself

Theory

I feel like they must own Joss soul, or the right to his first born child, that why he keeps going back to them.

Granted they did get a second season and they will get a chance to burn off the last of the 13 episodes, I still don't think that FOX gave them enough of a chance.

It's official, FOX are the gate keepers to my own personal hell

I just don't think that big networks and corporations in general realize how shitty they are. This whole capitalist agenda of theirs consistently ruins my life. WHATS WRONG WITH JUST MAKING GOOD TELEVISION. Why must they constantly prevent those with talent and vision from sharing their awesomeness with the world.

Why are shows with heart, a conscious, and a message feared? Why are innovations in character development and storyline seen as too confusing? Viewers are smart! And if your products were more readily available for non live viewing, people would be more willing to invest in complicated storyline. Also DVR, iTunes and Online view should count towards official viewership, lets be honest, that is how we watch television now, get with it.

Network television I flip you and your hegemonic capitalist heteronormative ass's the bird!

Also I am currently taking bets on how long it takes FOX to systematically ruin GLEE. Who's in?

Revalation

I now know why people hate the government... dealing with them is so incredibly frustrating! Apply for an educational loan is like trying to get on the donor list!
All I want is their money, why is that such a difficult concept?!?!

One year left! the countdown to real life begins

This one goes out to my homies in... well where ever you are

This ones a shout out to my home girl Kelly in Germany who apparently reads this blog to catch up with my news, and little lady I hate to break it to you, but my life is DULL! I mean it's not that it sucks or anything, far from it I'm quite happy, But my life consists of a very dull, wake up, eat work, eat, see my boyfriend, maybe once in a while we'll go on a date, get some ice cream... Oh and then I scramble around trying to finish my homework, that I haven't done, cause I'm absent minded to the point of mild retardation. I also still watch and unseemly amount of X-files (One season left and I'm dreading it cause it's going to suck!) and I'm trying to get into True Blood for the second time, but as hard as I try I still think it's gross and the main characters are stupid.
Um Megan's wedding is this weekend, gots me a sexy dress, an overpriced wedding gift (OMG buying it was a nightmare! the staff at Sears SUCK!) and a hot date who may or may not be there, because I may or may not be there, because that night at work is gonna be HUGE! And it is also rookie party so Duke is gonna spend some time doing that. Hopefully I make it there before 1am and be able to see the happy couple. Oh also Liv is at camp, Rik still hates me, Lynn and Garry are chill.
Work is nice making decent money, it's not golf course crazy and the food is good, and Allison doesn't sound a thing like Lise.
If I missed something lemme know!

AND WE'RE BACK!

Mulders's back! Krycek back (btw best villan ever)! and the planets are starting to re align. hopefully they don't re-fuck this. Also geek alert: Jayne has the most bad ass cameo.

WEAK!

Currently watching The X-Files seson 8 and it's feeble attempts to hide the fact the David Duchovny is a douche bag and didn't want to come back for the last two season. All the do is write around the fact that he isn't there. I don't buy any of the story lines they've cooked up, because even in the verse they don't make sense. They ended the big story line of the first six season with the BIGGEST ret-con, and just keep going back and back and changining this and it's fuckin' pissing me off. I thought i'd hate Dogget, but honestly he's no half bad. That new bitch is a pain in the ass (She's all "look at me, im new age and open minded!" SHUT UP BITCH!), and Scully just completly lost her spine and crys and crys all the time. Don't get me wrong I still very much enjoy the show, but it's just not the same as the first six seasons. I'll never get over this. What a show, loves it.

Things are looking up

Got a job, stopped the emotional eating, gots me a hot date tonight, dollhouse got renewed, my parents are out of town, things are coming up shiny for me this week. Also last week I bought the coolest basket for my bike (I'm so going for a ride later)an activity I'm thoroughly enjoying. The only bummer is that Apple came out with their back to school ipod promotion 3 weeks after I bought my computer. BOO! I would have loved and ipod touch. Also loving the new job, working' at the Riverain in Ormstown. It's extremely lovely and such as change from the golf course. Instead of always being there working my ass off and being stressed. I'm happy working hard and having fun. It probably wont be as lucrative a summer as last year, but after the stress that was last semester I really need a change of pace... and now for my bike ride!

Post Lobster Party Regrets

Hung over and tired.
Tip for the masses: lobster and half a bottle of rum may seem like a great idea at first, but things really start to go down hill fast.

Unfortunately this tiredness has turned morose and the depression I've successfully been keeping at bay for some time has crept up and begun kicking my ass! I'm still unemployed, bored and undecided about where I'm going to spend my summer (City or country). The more time I spend thinking about it the further I get from making a decision and the harder it becomes and the more desperate I become to figure my shit out, which makes me think harder.. it's a fuckin' vicious circle! This has lead to a my depraved economic state as well as a vast amount of emotional eating... FML
